The West Virginia Department of Health, Bureau for Public Health, Office of Nutrition Services (ONS) is proud to announce the launch of a new, public-facing data dashboard designed to bring accessibility to West Virginia’s Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children program (WIC).
“We are working diligently to make our services more accessible to the West Virginians who utilize them,” shared Secretary of Health Dr. Arvin Singh. “By better getting information and resources into the hands of our communities, we are increasing awareness and knowledge around these vital programs and their impact.”
The dashboard, which is mobile-friendly and easy to use on any device, puts real-time program information directly into the hands of the public and state leaders. By making this data accessible, ONS aims to better support families, improve decision-making, and increase participation across the state. Key features will include participation rates; benefit redemption; breastfeeding information; and an easy-to-use, interactive map that highlights authorized vendors, farmers markets, and WIC clinics.
By providing a clear snapshot of where federal nutrition dollars are being spent, the ONS hopes to empower the public and help state leaders make informed decisions that strengthen the WIC program.
The dashboard will be updated monthly to ensure access to the most current information. Explore the new dashboard and learn more about how WIC is supporting West Virginia families at https://bph.wv.gov/photo-call-out/nutrition-services
