The Town of Wayne’s “Do Not Consume” order remains in place following the vandalism and transformer oil release at Appalachian Power’s East Lynn substation. According to Mayor Grace, this order will remain in place until water sample test results reflect a non-detect of transformer oil in the Town of Wayne’s water plant and distribution system.
That decision was made after the latest West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection testing found transformer oil in the Town of Wayne’s water plant.
Those results are outlined in the table below:

Testing, sampling, flushing, and cleanup efforts will continue as appropriate and weather permitting.
Water distribution sites for the Town of Wayne are as follows:
- Wayne Town Hall: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily
- East Lynn Fire Department: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday
Water buffaloes are available at both locations for residents to fill personal water jugs and containers.
Shower and laundry services are as follows:
- Beside Wayne Town Hall
- East Lynn Fire Department
- Dunlow Community Center
- Wayne Charter House
- Wayne Walmart- across from the Lawn and Garden section
*Please note, if needed, residents can allow their faucets to drip to prevent freeze damage to their plumbing.
